Angelo Bani joined the Italian National Police in 1986 and have worked at the Central Directorate of Criminal Police in Rome, seconded to INTERPOL, the International Criminal Police Organisation, as a Criminal Intelligence Officer.

He was Manager of the INTERPOL Counter-Terrorism Fusion Task Force within the Public Safety and Terrorism sub directorate, dealing with terrorism and counter-terrorism information in the Asian-Pacific region. (FTF project Pacific). Mr Bani was also appointed as a Counter-Terrorism Capacity Building Officer for Asia and Africa within the INTERPOL Capacity Building and Training Directorate.

He has spent several years as Specialised Officer at the INTERPOL General Secretariat in Lyon (France), dealing with border management projects and before at a United Nations specialised Agency in Rome as Security Assistant. He was previously Head of Detective Units at the Italian National Police Criminal Investigation departments.

His international experience with INTERPOL includes investigative missions in India, Iraq, Pakistan, Cambodia, Laos, Timor Leste, Thailand, Colombia and Salvador. He represented INTERPOL at a number of international conferences, organised training courses in the Asia-Pacific region and Central Africa and published a restricted secure website related to CT information and OSINT for the use of CT Officers and analysts.

Law enforcement trainer within specific SE Asian regional programs of UNODC and IOM, During the last five years (2013-2017). Mr Bani was visiting lecturer at the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research of NTU University in Singapore in the frame of their Counter-Terrorism Analysts Course, and trainer on OSINT/SOCMINT exploitation for investigation in a specific programme organised by the Swiss Police Academy of Savatan, in Switzerland.

Mr Bani has a technical diploma in Hotel Management and completed his studies at the Italian National Police School and the Italian National Police Academy.

He owns a certificate in Terrorism Studies from the Centre for the Study of Terrorism and Political Violence, the University of St. Andrews, UK, a Certificate on Terrorism Studies from the International Centre for Political Violence and Terrorism Research at NTU University in Singapore, and a certified course on Political Philosophy at Oxford University, UK. He obtained an MSc in International Criminal Justice from the University of Portsmouth, UK and a second MSc in Strategic Studies from Nanyang Technological University RSIS in Singapore.

He is a member of the British Society of Criminology, a Fellow of the Chartered International Institute of Security and Crises Management on Singapore, and a former member of the International Counter-Terrorism Officer Association of New York and the Foreign Anti-Narcotic and Crime Community of Bangkok.

He is currently Senior Security Adviser of the World Economic Forum in Geneva (Switzerland).
